New This Fall (2007):

More convenient & less expensive parking announced by City of New Bedford:

From November 1st - May 20th passengers may park directly on the State Pier, which will make traveling from New Bedford even easier.

New discount rates will also be offered. In addition to the current daily rate of $10 a new monthly discount is now available. For $120 per month commuters will effectively be receiving a 40% discount and be paying only $6 per day for a five day work week. There will also be an even greater discount for those passengers wishing to purchase an annual parking pass for $500. These commuters will be paying less than $2 per day!

Passengers with Elm Street parking passes may also park on the pier during the winter and in the Whales Tooth lot in the summer.

The Pier's parking lot will be manned with 24 hour security staff.

Our New Bedford facility is in the lovely and historic downtown area:

From Boston and points North (all by limited access highway):

Take I-93 South. Highway forks; stay right. (Note: highway sign reads: "93 South, Dedham-Providence.")
Take Exit 4: Route 24 South. (Note: This is a left lane exit) Distance to next exit 24 Miles.
Take Exit 12: Route 140 South. Distance to next exit 19 miles.
Take Exit 2E/A: I-195 East towards Cape Cod. Distance to next exit 1.3 miles.
Take Exit 15: Route 18 South/Downtown New Bedford.
Turn Left at 2nd light. (Note: this is a left lane turn.) Drive straight onto the State Pier. Once upon State Pier bear to your left and proceed up the ramp to the New Bedford Ferry Terminal. Ticket facility is located inside the terminal.

From New York or points south:

Take I-95 North.
Take Exit 20: I-195 East towards Providence/Cape Cod.
Take Exit 15: Route 18 South/Downtown New Bedford.
Turn Left at 2nd light. (Note: this is a left lane turn.) Drive straight onto the State Pier. Once upon State Pier bear to your left and proceed up the ramp to the New Bedford Ferry Terminal. Ticket facility is located inside the terminal.

From Connecticut:

Take I-95 towards I-195.
Take Exit 20: I-195 East towards Cape Cod.
Take Exit 15: Route 18 South/Downtown New Bedford.
Turn Left at 2nd light. (Note: this is a left lane turn.) Drive straight onto the State Pier. Once upon State Pier bear to your left and proceed up the ramp to the New Bedford Ferry Terminal. Ticket facility is located inside the terminal.

From Cape Cod:

Take Route 6 West.
Take Route 25.
Take I-195 West.
Take Exit 15: Route 18 South/Downtown New Bedford.
Turn Left at 2nd light. (Note: this is a left lane turn.) Drive straight onto the State Pier. Once upon State Pier bear to your left and proceed up the ramp to the New Bedford Ferry Terminal. Ticket facility is located inside the terminal.

Parking in New Bedford:

Parking is $10 per calendar day.

Annual parking passes are available for the Elm Street Garage in limited supply. Annual parking passes can be purchased at the New Bedford or Martha’s Vineyard ticketing facilities. Passes must be purchased with cash or a check made out to the City of New Bedford. Passes are valid for a year from the date of purchase. Shuttle bus transportation is also available to and from the Elm Street Garage.

Our Martha's Vineyard ticket facility is located year-round in the Vineyard Haven Steamship Authority Terminal. During our summer season we have a second ticket facility located in the Oak Bluffs Steamship Authority Terminal.
